Careers in Africa Summits: The 2027 Calendar for Diaspora Professionals
For experienced African professionals abroad who are thinking about a move back to the continent, or into a role with an African employer, the Careers in Africa summits are among the longest-running routes. The 2026 season just ended with New York on 21 September and Trinidad & Tobago on 23 September. Here is what's next.
Upcoming summits
- Lisbon: May 2027. Billed as connecting "600+ highly experienced African and diaspora professionals" with employers.
- Paris: May 2027. For African and diaspora professionals.
- London: May 2027. For internationally experienced African and diaspora talent.
- New York: September 2027.
Exact dates and venues for 2027 haven't been announced yet. Check the organiser's summit page for updates.
What to expect
The organisers stress that the London summit is "not a job fair". It's a structured, in-person event built around direct conversations with hiring managers and leadership teams. The 2026 London sponsors included Afreximbank and Equity Bank (DRC), a sign of the banking and development-finance employers these events attract.
How to prepare, starting now
- Register early through the Careers in Africa candidate page. The summits are aimed at experienced professionals, so make your experience easy to see.
- Update your CV for African employers. Lead with results, name the markets you know, and list any African languages.
- Research the sponsors as they're announced, and prepare a specific story for each organisation you want to meet.
- Be clear on your terms. Know which country you'd relocate to, your notice period, and your salary expectations, including allowances and housing.
- Follow up within a week. Conversations at these events are short, so a thoughtful follow-up email makes you memorable.
